Organized by groups such as West Orange for Humanity, Teaneck for Palestine, and the NJ Chapter of American Muslims for Palestine, the demonstration will target a real estate event hosted by My Israel Home, a company promoting property sales to U.S.-based Jewish buyers in areas of Jerusalem that lie beyond Israel’s internationally recognized borders.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Ellis Street and Forest Avenue.
The protest adds to a series of recent demonstrations by activists around the world challenging real estate activities they claim contribute to the displacement of local communities. A similar protests took place last week in Bergenfield, and earlier this year in Teaneck and South Hackensack.
The protest unfolds against the backdrop of rising regional tensions, as activists underscore escalating violence in Gaza and surrounding areas, which has now continued more than a year after Oct. 7, 2023.
